<h2>What are the FIVB Event Regulations?</h2>
<p>The Event Regulations of the Fédération Internationale de Volleyball (FIVB) govern the staging of international competitions: which event falls under which body, the calendar and frequency of staging, the composition and duties of the <strong>Control Committee</strong> and its sub-committees — organisational, refereeing, court operations, medical, media and information system — and the pre-match formalities from team registration to the preliminary inquiry.</p>

<h2>About the February 2026 edition<span class="reg-tag">Changes from November 2020</span></h2>
<h3>Most significant changes from the previous edition</h3>
<ol class="reg-tl">
<li><b class="t">Chain of responsibility for staging</b>The persons and bodies responsible for the technical staging are enumerated: <strong>the FIVB, its subsidiary companies, its agents, inspectors and contracted third parties, the Control Committee, the local organiser and the host national federation</strong> — with the express provision that <strong>ultimate responsibility rests with the FIVB, its companies and the local organiser</strong>.</li>
<li><b class="t">Duty of the host national federation</b>The national federation of the host country is required to <strong>assist the FIVB</strong> in ensuring compliance with these regulations in the technical staging of the event.</li>
<li><b class="t">Redefined list of competitions</b>The list of competitions under the FIVB was rewritten and its age categories made explicit: <strong>the World Championship and its qualification tournaments, Olympic qualification, the men's and women's U21 Championships, U19, and the U17 youth Championship</strong>.</li>
<li><b class="t">Separation of the bodies governing each competition</b>For each group of international competitions, a separate <strong>governing body</strong> was designated, so that the boundary of jurisdiction between the FIVB, the confederations and the organisers is clear.</li>

<h2>Who this document matters to</h2>
<p>For federations and clubs acting as hosts or participants, this document sets the operational obligations: team registration forms, the preliminary inspection of team composition, jerseys and numbers, and the body competent to hear protests in the course of an event. A point that bears on impartiality: a <strong>member sharing the nationality of one of the parties to a protest</strong> may not sit in the hearing.</p>
