<h2>When does video replay apply?</h2>
<p>Video replay allows the referees to view a passage of play on a monitor without delay, <strong>where they have been unable to see the whole action and wish to examine it again before deciding</strong>. The facility relates specifically to key match situations in which the referees wish to place the television image alongside their own view on court — not to substitute it for that view.</p>

<h2>Reviewable situations</h2>
<ol class="reg-tl">
<li><b class="t">Goal or no goal</b>Determining whether the ball has wholly crossed the goal line, and whether time had expired or play had been stopped before the ball wholly crossed it.</li>
<li><b class="t">Violent and unsporting conduct</b>An incident <strong>away from the ball</strong> occurring outside the referees' field of vision.</li>
<li><b class="t">Identification of the offending player</b>To enable the referees to establish precisely the <strong>shirt number</strong> of the player liable to disqualification.</li>
<li><b class="t">Confrontation on court</b>A confrontation between two or more players, where the referees have serious doubt as to which player should be penalised.</li>
<li><b class="t">Faulty substitution and simulation</b>A substitution not identified from the table; and serious doubt as to whether a player should receive a progressive sanction or is <strong>misleading the referees by simulation</strong>.</li>
<li><b class="t">Doubt in applying Rule 8</b>Serious doubt as to whether a <strong>2-minute suspension</strong> or a <strong>disqualification</strong> should be given under 8:5, 8:6, 8:9, 8:10 or 8:11.</li>

<h2>Who this document matters to</h2>
<p>In challenging a referee's decision, the closed list of reviewable situations is decisive: a passage of play not on that list was never a subject for video replay at all, and an objection based on the failure to use it has no standing.</p>
