What are the Regulations for Transfer Between Federations?

The regulations of the International Handball Federation (IHF) are a set of numbered chapters headed by the Statutes, each chapter governing one area. This document is Chapter IV of that set.

About the 2020 editionChanges from the edition of 1 July 2019

Key changes from the previous edition

  1. International transfer certificateThese regulations are built around the international transfer certificate (ITC), the document without which a transfer to another federation has no official effect.
  2. Rules on professional playersA separate article is devoted to the rules governing professional players.
  3. Loan of playersThe text clarifies the status of a player on loan and the regulations that apply during the loan period.
  4. Annex of national federationsThe document carries as an annex a list of the national federations by continent.

Who this document matters to

For clubs and players competing in foreign leagues, this document is decisive: without an international transfer certificate, a player cannot be registered with the receiving federation.

Each case is governed by the edition of these regulations in force at the time of the relevant event; for that reason, earlier editions are kept available on this page.
