<p>The Data Protection and Privacy Regulations of United World Wrestling (UWW) determine how the personal information of athletes and other persons is to be processed in the course of anti-doping activities. The text is derived from the World Anti-Doping Agency's <strong>International Standard for the Protection of Privacy and Personal Information (ISPPPI)</strong>, and its terminology is likewise taken from that standard.</p>

<h2>Who this document matters to</h2>
<p>For every wrestler subject to the testing system, their medical information, whereabouts and test results fall under these rules. For sports lawyers, this document becomes relevant in cases where an objection is raised to the manner in which information was collected, retained or disclosed. As a structural point, the federation has entrusted the implementation of its anti-doping programme to the <strong>International Testing Agency (ITA)</strong>, whose role and responsibilities are determined in the agreement between the two bodies.</p>

<h2>Two documents with the same name that are not the same</h2>
<p>United World Wrestling publishes two documents with almost identical names, and distinguishing between them matters in practice:</p>

<li><b class="t">General version — this document</b>Determines the processing of the data of website and online service users, and is based on Swiss data protection law.</li>
<li><b class="t">Anti-doping version</b>Determines the processing of data in the framework of anti-doping activities, and is based on the World Anti-Doping Agency's International Standard for the Protection of Privacy and Personal Information.</li>

<p>In a case concerning the publication or transfer of an athlete's data, the first question is in which context the data was processed — the website and registration, or the anti-doping programme. The answer changes both the governing document and the adjudicating body.</p>

<p>The document explains that visiting the website does not in itself require the provision of personal information, but that the use of certain features requires registration and the provision of data such as full name, country of residence, nationality, address and email. By providing this data, the user authorises the federation to process it.</p>
