<h2>What is the FIFA Disciplinary Code?</h2>
<p>The FIFA Disciplinary Code (FDC) defines disciplinary offences in football, determines the corresponding sanctions, and regulates the organisation and jurisdiction of FIFA's judicial bodies and the procedure before them. Its scope covers FIFA matches and competitions, as well as offences that do not fall within the jurisdiction of the confederations or the member associations; member associations are also required to bring their own disciplinary regulations into line with the principles of this document.</p>

<h2>About the January 2027 edition<span class="reg-tag">Changes from May 2026</span></h2>
<p>Under Article 76, this document was approved by the <strong>Bureau of the FIFA Council</strong> on <strong>10 June 2026</strong> and enters into force on <strong>1 January 2027</strong>. The change in this edition compared with the May 2026 edition is focused and confined to a single subject.</p>
<h3>Key changes from the previous edition</h3>
<ol class="reg-tl">
<li><b class="t">Sanction for failure to enforce decisions of national dispute resolution chambers</b>For the first time, it is provided that where a decision has been issued by a <strong>national dispute resolution chamber (NDRC) recognised in accordance with the FIFA regulations</strong> and the association concerned fails to enforce it <strong>within 60 days</strong>, the disciplinary consequences set out in this article may be applied. This provision did not exist in the May 2026 edition or in earlier editions.</li>

<h2>Who this document matters to</h2>
<p>Clubs and federations involved in international disciplinary proceedings, players and coaches subject to suspensions, and sports lawyers appearing before the FIFA Disciplinary Committee and the FIFA Appeal Committee rely on the text of these regulations. In any given case, the governing edition is the one in force at the time the offence was committed — unless later regulations provide for a more lenient sanction; for that reason, access to the text of earlier editions is of practical importance.</p>

FIFA Disciplinary Code - January 2027 edition

<p class="reg-lead">The current edition, revised in December 2023 and in force from 1 January 2024; the text was organised into nine chapters, its scope of application was extended to organising committees and the host candidature process, and national federations were required to adopt their own ethics regulations on its basis.</p>

<h2>What is the United World Wrestling Code of Ethics?</h2>
<p>The United World Wrestling (UWW) Code of Ethics sets out the rules of conduct governing everyone who plays a part in the international wrestling cycle: federation officials, national federations, organising committees, athletes and their entourage. Its principal themes are respect for human dignity, the prohibition of discrimination and harassment, the prevention of conflicts of interest, the protection of the integrity of competitions against manipulation and betting, and transparency in governance and financial resources.</p>

<h3>Key changes from the previous edition</h3>
<ol class="reg-tl">
<li><b class="t">A new structure in nine chapters</b>The previously dispersed text was recast into an ordered structure: <strong>fundamental principles, integrity of conduct, integrity of competitions, good governance and resources, candidatures, confidentiality, the duty to report and enforcement</strong> — and, at the end, the <strong>Olympic Movement Code on the Prevention of the Manipulation of Competitions</strong> as part of the document.</li>
<li><b class="t">Extended scope of application</b>In addition to officials and athletes, <strong>organising committees for federation events and their officials throughout the whole period of their activity</strong>, as well as <strong>all members and officials taking part in candidature processes</strong>, are now expressly covered.</li>
<li><b class="t">Obligation on national federations to adopt internal regulations</b>Affiliated and associated members were required to adopt, for their own domestic activities, <strong>ethics regulations based on these same principles</strong>.</li>
<li><b class="t">Duty to report and confidentiality</b>Two separate chapters were devoted to the <strong>duty to report violations</strong> and to <strong>confidentiality</strong> — a mechanism that did not exist in such express terms in the previous text.</li>
<li><b class="t">Leading by example and promoting a culture of ethics</b>Federation parties undertook to <strong>promote a culture of ethics and integrity within their sphere of competence and to serve as an example themselves</strong>.</li>

<h2>Who this document matters to</h2>
<p>Ethics cases — from conflicts of interest on the part of officials to allegations of result manipulation — are examined on the basis of this very text, and their consequences may extend as far as suspension. For national federations, the practical point is that this document requires them to <strong>draw up their own internal ethics regulations on the basis of these same principles</strong>; that is, the text does not remain purely international but extends to the national level.</p>

<h2>What the Code of Ethics governs</h2>
<p>This document determines the conduct expected of the persons subject to it — from the prohibition of discrimination and the general rules of integrity to conflicts of interest — and alongside that governs the composition and powers of the <strong>Ethics Commission</strong> and the procedure before it. The 2025 Constitution has broadened the role of this Commission.</p>
