<h2>What is the United World Wrestling Code of Ethics?</h2>
<p>The United World Wrestling (UWW) Code of Ethics sets out the rules of conduct governing everyone who plays a part in the international wrestling cycle: federation officials, national federations, organising committees, athletes and their entourage. Its principal themes are respect for human dignity, the prohibition of discrimination and harassment, the prevention of conflicts of interest, the protection of the integrity of competitions against manipulation and betting, and transparency in governance and financial resources.</p>

<li><b class="t">A new structure in nine chapters</b>The previously dispersed text was recast into an ordered structure: <strong>fundamental principles, integrity of conduct, integrity of competitions, good governance and resources, candidatures, confidentiality, the duty to report and enforcement</strong> — and, at the end, the <strong>Olympic Movement Code on the Prevention of the Manipulation of Competitions</strong> as part of the document.</li>
<li><b class="t">Extended scope of application</b>In addition to officials and athletes, <strong>organising committees for federation events and their officials throughout the whole period of their activity</strong>, as well as <strong>all members and officials taking part in candidature processes</strong>, are now expressly covered.</li>
<li><b class="t">Obligation on national federations to adopt internal regulations</b>Affiliated and associated members were required to adopt, for their own domestic activities, <strong>ethics regulations based on these same principles</strong>.</li>
<li><b class="t">Duty to report and confidentiality</b>Two separate chapters were devoted to the <strong>duty to report violations</strong> and to <strong>confidentiality</strong> — a mechanism that did not exist in such express terms in the previous text.</li>
<li><b class="t">Leading by example and promoting a culture of ethics</b>Federation parties undertook to <strong>promote a culture of ethics and integrity within their sphere of competence and to serve as an example themselves</strong>.</li>

<h2>Who this document matters to</h2>
<p>Ethics cases — from conflicts of interest on the part of officials to allegations of result manipulation — are examined on the basis of this very text, and their consequences may extend as far as suspension. For national federations, the practical point is that this document requires them to <strong>draw up their own internal ethics regulations on the basis of these same principles</strong>; that is, the text does not remain purely international but extends to the national level.</p>

<h2>What the Code of Ethics governs</h2>
<p>This document determines the conduct expected of the persons subject to it — from the prohibition of discrimination and the general rules of integrity to conflicts of interest — and alongside that governs the composition and powers of the <strong>Ethics Commission</strong> and the procedure before it. The 2025 Constitution has broadened the role of this Commission.</p>

<h2>Who this document matters to</h2>
<p>Every ethics case in international cycling passes through the Ethics Commission, and this document is the procedure for that adjudication. The conflict-of-interest rules also have direct practical importance for officials of national federations who simultaneously hold other positions.</p>
