<h2>What Part 8 governs</h2>
<p>The Regulations of the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) are divided into <strong>seventeen numbered parts</strong>, which sit alongside the Constitution and the Code of Ethics. Each article carries its own three-part number — such as 8.4.042 — whose first digit is the number of the part itself. This document is <strong>Part 8</strong> of that set.</p><p>Indoor cycling, comprising two independent disciplines: <strong>artistic cycling</strong>, with rules of execution, descriptions of the figures, evaluation and the list of exercises, and <strong>cycle-ball</strong>.</p>

<h2>Key changes in this edition<span class="reg-tag">Changes from the 1 July 2021 edition</span></h2>

<li><b class="t">Structure of the Cycle-ball World Cup</b>New article <strong>8.12.013</strong>: at each Cycle-ball World Cup competition, <strong>6 teams</strong> compete against one another in the preliminary round, and each competition consists of a preliminary round, semi-finals and a final.</li>
<li><b class="t">Fault-deduction table in artistic cycling</b>Article <strong>8.4.042</strong> defines fault group 3 in detail: the deduction per rider and per type of fault, for each time it occurs — including <strong>falls</strong>, from the moment of entering the competition surface until the end of the permitted time.</li>
<li><b class="t">Volume of changes</b>151 articles have been rewritten; additions and deletions are few (2 and 4). Most of the changes concern the sharpening of the artistic judging criteria.</li>

<h2>Who this document matters to</h2>
<p>In artistic cycling, the final score is the result of deducting faults, and the fault-group tables are the basis of any challenge to the judging. For cycle-ball competitions, the new World Cup structure determines the format by which teams reach the knockout stage.</p>
