Structure of the Statutes
Articles 1 to 4 establish the constitution and objectives, the structure, the economic resources and the assets. Articles 5 to 9 deal with membership: affiliation and disaffiliation of national federations, the rights and obligations of member countries, natural persons and their rights and obligations, and admission and undertakings. Article 10 sets out the conditions of candidature.
Articles 11 to 14 constitute the organs — the organisation, the Congress, the Executive Committee and the President — and Article 15 governs finances and auditing. Article 16 covers the commissions, Article 17 the rules and regulations, Article 20 the dan grades, and Article 21 the principles of sporting justice. The two final articles deal with amendment of the Statutes and dissolution.

The edition previously held on this site is the 2019 edition; it remains the governing text for events occurring before October 2022 and is retained within this same family. For the Iranian karate federation, Articles 5 and 6 — affiliation, disaffiliation, rights and obligations — are the determinative provisions; and for sports lawyers, Article 21 is the point of entry into the disciplinary system, since it establishes the principles of sporting justice there and leaves the details to the disciplinary regulations.
